A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I made a Berroco Ultra Wool DK version of my new Winslow Park Cowl (as featured below):
I used colors similar to the ones featured in the original (which I had used Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend for). These colors in Berroco were: Wheat, Butternut, Stonewashed, Blue Angel and Sky Blue:
But unlike the Manos Silk Blend, Ultra Wool DK comes in 100g skeins. So there was A LOT of each color left over! That of course means that you can make multiple Winslow Park Cowls, but you can also consider using the yarn for a totally different pattern. I decided to try using some leftovers for my Summer Soundtrack Cowl and I was so happy with the results:
I used Butternut as my color A and Sky Blue as my color B – I think it’s such a great combo! But there was enough yarn of any of the 5 colors that you could pick any combo you like. Due to some gauge differences though, I did make a few alterations to the pattern. See below for my pattern adjustment list:
Changes I made to the Summer Soundtrack Cowl when using Berroco Ultra Wool DK:
- I used a US 6 24″ circular needle as my main needle instead of a US 5 24″ needle.
- I cast-on 136 stitches (instead of 144).
- In both sections 1 and 2, I repeated rows 1-6: 7 times (instead of 8) – this means that you will have 9 bands of color B (in section 1) and color A (in section 2) instead of the 10 bands.
- I used a US 5 24″ circular needle for the top ribbing instead of the US 4 24″ needle.
