Leftover yarn is an inevitable part of the knitting process – little bits saved from past projects, each with its own story. If you’re looking for creative ways to use those extra yards in some fun and creative ways, here are a few of my favorite ideas!
Idea #1: Pom-Poms
Pom-poms are one of my favorite ways to use up leftover yarn. And they’re not just for hats – pom-poms make great decoration items too. You can display them in a bowl as I’ve done above, or use them for gift wrap or garland, as shown below!
My preferred way of making pom-poms is with the Clover Pom-Pom Maker. Check out my video lesson here!
Idea #2: Tablescape Decor
This idea comes courtesy of my good friend Alex who creates beautiful tablescapes. And she came up with some clever ways to incorporate yarn into the table decor for a local yarn shop event I had earlier this year. These yarn-wrapped vases and glasses were so perfect (and love the sprinkling of pom-poms on the table too!).
Idea #3: Decorative vase filler
One way I often store my little itty bitty leftover balls of yarn is filling them in a clear vase, like I’ve done below:
I think it’s a fun, simple way to add a pop of color and texture to your home decor (or tablescape). Plus, they serve as mini reminders of my past projects which I kind of love!
Do you ever any other creative uses for your little leftovers of yarn? I’d love to hear about them!
