How to Pick your Size: Choose a size approx 4-9”/10-23 cm larger than your actual bust measurement, depending on desired fit. As shown:
- The cropped version (yellow) is size 2, being worn with 5”/13 cm of positive ease at the bust, for a standard fit.
- The tunic version (teal) is size 3, being worn with 9”/23 cm of positive ease at the bust (and 3”/8 cm of positive ease at the hips) for a more oversized fit.
Gauge:17 sts & 26 rows = 4”/10 cm in St st in the rnd after blocking.
Yarn/Yardage: Worsted-weight yarn, shown in Rios by Malabrigo (100% Superwash Merino; 100g = 210 yds), in colors Frank Ochre (yellow) and Teal Feather (teal). Yardage broken out below:

Needles & Supplies:
- US 9/5.5 mm 24”/60 cm and 32”/80 cm circ, or size needed to obtain gauge.
- US 8/5 mm 16”/40 cm circ, or 1 needle size smaller than that used to obtain gauge.
- For cowl version: US 9/5.5 mm 16”/40 cm circ, or same size used to obtain gauge.
- 4 stitch markers (1 a different style than others).
- 3 pieces of scrap yarn.
- Tapestry needle to weave in ends.
- Low-key is knit seamlessly from the bottom-up with a hi-low split hem (in either a cropped or tunic length).
- Front and back are each worked separately at first (to create split hem) and then joined together and worked in the round (in a garter ridge stitch pattern) for the remainder of body.
- Front and back are split at underarm and each worked separately up to shoulders, then attached together with Three Needle Bind-Off technique.
- Stitches are picked up along each armhole and worked in garter stitch to create trim.
- Stitches are also picked up around the neck to create the trim, with options for either a crew neck or cowl neck.
