Brightside Cowl Tips

Ready to make your own Brightside Cowl? Below I have tips regarding yarn as well as videos for all of the techniques used.

Yarn:

I used Berroco’s Vintage Chunky for this project, a bulky-weight yarn. I actually knit this simple many years ago and one of the colors used have since been discontinued. So below is a list of all of the colors I used, what shade they are (in case you want to substitute) and if it has been discontinued, what the current equivalent would be:

  • Main color: Oats (light brown)
  • CC1: Sunny (yellow)
  • CC2: Dewberry (magenta)
  • CC3: Tang (orange – color discontinued, use Pumpkin instead)
  • CC4: Chocolate (brown)
  • CC5: Neptune (teal)

Want to use stash-yarn that is in a different yarn weight? Here are my cast-on number suggestions for different yarn-weights (also keep in mind you’ll need different amounts of yarn if you choose a different weight):

  • Fingering-weight (approx. 6 sts = 1″): cast-on 39
  • Sport-weight (approx. 5.5 sts = 1″): cast-on 35
  • DK-weight (approx. 5 sts = 1″): cast-on 32
  • Worsted-weight (approx. 4.5 sts = 1″): cast-on 29
