Freeport calls for aran/bulky-weight yarn. In the photo above (and in the pattern), I used Quince & Co Osprey. Below are just a few other yarn ideas that would work well for this design:

Elizabeth Zimmermann Phony Seam Technique

I learned about this neat technique in Elizabeth Zimmermann’s book “Knitting Without Tears”. It creates a seam-like fold at the sides of a bottom-up garment – it helps to provide structure and is quite clever! Picking-up Stitches for Front Bands
