This past week my Brookdale KAL (knitalong) Virtual Workshop wrapped-up! I had so many wonderful students from literally all over (we spanned 3 continents!), and in our last Zoom I shared a ‘show & tell’ slideshow of my student’s work and wanted to share it here as well! But first, let me tell you a bit about what this workshop and pattern was all about.
What was the KAL Workshop all about?
You may already be familiar with the concept of “KALs”, where a group of people all knit the same project together at the same time. I took this concept and combined it with a structured learning format where each week I sent out lessons that provided tips and tutorials for the next phase of the Brookdale vest pattern. And we had Zoom meet-ups along the way where I shared even more tips, provided demonstrations and had open Q&A time.
We had a great time and I was so thrilled about all the positive feedback I received. Most importantly, I heard from so many of my students that they learned so much and it helped build up their knitting confidence. As an instructor, that’s the best feedback I could receive!
About the Vest…
The Brookdale Vest is knit seamlessly from the bottom-up and features A-line shaping and textured front panels that wrap around the back of the neck. It involves some interesting techniques that may at first seem a little intimidating, but when you take it step-by-step, you realize ‘oh hey, that wasn’t too hard!’.
