My Crispy Cowl is one of my favorite knit accessories (and I wear it all the time in the winter too!). And on this Small Business Saturday, I thought it would be a great pattern to highlight as well because it calls for yarn that many local yarn shops carry – Malabrigo Mecha! You need just 2 skeins for this project (and a US 10.5 32″ circular needle). One of my LYS’s, Mother of Purl Yarn Shop here in Freeport, Maine has a great selection of this yarn – click here to check it out and purchase online.
The Stitch Pattern
What makes this cowl so fun to knit is its interesting, but still very simple, stitch pattern – the Bamboo Stitch. It’s just a 2 round stitch pattern where on one of the rounds you knit every stitch (easy enough!) and the the other round you work a YO (yarn-over), k2, then pass the YO over the k2. If this sounds complicated, don’t worry – it’s not! Check out my video tutorial below to watch me do it in-action:

Crispy Cowl
Crispy Cowl features an easy, fun stitch pattern and is a great relaxing project for the Fall and Winter seasons. It also makes a nice gift for someone special! This cowl is knit in the round using bulky-weight yarn (I used the beautiful Malabrigo Mecha). Pattern includes links to video tutorials all of the techniques used (including the stitch pattern).
