In my latest pattern, Midcoast Mitts, you will be working on DPNs (double pointed needles). Since the pattern is geared for beginner needles, I thought it would be helpful to have a photo tutorial that explains visually how to cast-on and join for working in the round when working with DPNs.

Often patterns will have instructions such as: “Cast on x stitches, distribute evenly on 3 DPNs, join for working in the rnd.” The photo tutorial below will show you exactly how to actually execute this instruction:

That’s it! Now that your stitches are cast on and your marker is secure you can work your pattern as instructed, using the 4th DPN as your working needle.
