I’m always looking for simple pieces that I can use to layer in the warmer months. And Castaway is just that – a simple, cropped & boxy tee meant to be worn with generous ease for an easy-fitting and relaxed summer look that looks great layered.

Sizes: XS (S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X)

Finished Bust Circumference: 38 (43, 47.5, 52.5, 57, 63, 68)”/97 (109, 121, 133, 145, 160, 173) cm 

Picking a Size: Shown in Size S (43”/109 cm), being worn with approx. 9”/23 cm of positive ease at the bust. I recommend picking a size that is 6-10”/15-25 cm larger than your actual bust measurement, depending on your desired fit. Visit my tips page (link in pattern) if you would like more information about picking a size. 

Gauge: 21 sts & 32 rnds = 4”/10 cm in St st in the rnd on Body needle.

Yarn: Approx 730 (845, 1015, 1175, 1390, 1570, 1825) yds of DK-weight yarn, shown in Quinoa by Berroco (91% cotton/9% nylon; 50g = 175 yds), 5 (5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11) skeins, shown in Aqua 1023.*

Needles and other supplies:

  • For Body: US 6/4 mm 32”/80 cm circ, or size needed to obtain gauge (note: larger sizes can consider using a 40”/100 cm).
  • For Sleeves: US 6/4 mm DPNs (or same size as used to obtain gauge), or you can use long circ if magic looping.
  • For Three Needle Bind-Off:
    • Extra US 6/4 mm 24”/60 cm or 32”/80 cm, or same needle size as used to obtain gauge.
    • US 7/4.5 mm needle (straight, circ or DPN), or 1 needle size larger than that used to obtain gauge.
  • Stitch markers.
  • Scrap yarn.
  • Tapestry needle.
