Soundtrack Yarn Options

Ready to cast-on your own Soundtrack Top or Cowl!? Let’s talk about yarn options!

Original Soundtrack (worsted-weight)

For my original Soundtrack, it calls for worsted-weight yarn. I used Sweet Georgia Superwash Worsted which is a 100% superwash merino that comes in semi-solid colorways (check out this page for some color pairing ideas!) It’s a lovely yarn to work and I highly recommend it! Another yarn that works really well for this design is Malabrigo Rios. Many other worsted-weight yarns will work great too – you can check out ravelry for ideas, or yarnsub.com.

Also, check out my blog post here where I feature some finished Soundtrack’s – it’s a great way to get ideas for color inspiration! Below are a few of the photos from that blog post:

Summer Soundtrack (sport/dk-weight)

My “Summer Soundtrack” is the lighter-weight version and calls for sport/dk-weight. I used the gorgeous Lucia DK from indie Boston-based dyer Dirty Water Dyeworks and I can’t recommend this yarn enough! Her color palette is just perfect for this pattern and you’ll just love knitting with this yarn. If you need to substitute though, look for yarns in that sport/DK weight range, and if you are trying to use stash yarn then I recommend doing lots of swatching to see what might work best. Either way, you may need to go up or down a needle size, so it’s always good to swatch!
