Picking your Soundtrack Size
The first step in planning your Soundtrack is to decide on what size you’re going to make! I recommend wearing your Soundtrack Top with approx. 6-10″/15-25.5 cm of positive ease. This means you should pick a size that is somewhere between 6-10″/15-25.5 cm larger than your actual bust measurement if you want a fit that is similar to how I am wearing it.
I am wearing a size 2 which, in the original Soundtrack version (red/brown) has a finished body circumference of 43.75″/111 cm and in the Summer version (teal/blue) is 43.25″/110 cm. Around my bust there is 10″/25.5 cm of positive ease (so the finished circumference of this top is 10″/25.5cm larger than my actual bust). This gives me a boxy fit, and because this top is a little on the cropped side, this type of fit works well to proportion my pear-shaped figure and how I personally like to wear my clothes (you know me, it’s all about layers!).
If you prefer a slightly more fitted look, then you can pick a size that has a bit less positive ease – aim for 4-6″/10-15 cm of positive ease if this is the case. If you’re on Ravelry, there are lots of finished projects of the original Soundtrack top, or check out my Soundtrack Gallery Blog Post.
I recommend that you read my post about ease in knitting – this may help you as you decide on size as well!
