Soundtrack Top is an easy-to-make layering top featuring 2 contrasting colors worked in a simple (yet entertaining!) slip stitch pattern. Like a catchy background melody, Soundtrack’s stitch pattern is a bit addictive – you’ll have a hard time putting it down!

How to Pick your Size: Choose a size that is approx 6-10”/15-25.5 cm larger than your actual bust measurement (or less if you prefer a more fitted look).

Yarn/Yardage:Worsted-weight yarn, shown in Superwash Worsted by Sweet Georgia (100% Superwash Merino; 115g = 200 yds), broken out as follows:

  • Color A: color dominant on the bottom: 425 (475, 550, 620) (700, 775, 855) yds, 3 (3, 3, 4) (4, 4, 5) skeins, shown in Cayenne.
  • Color B: color dominant on the top: 360 (400, 490, 550) (620, 690, 760) yds, 2 (2, 3, 3) (4, 4, 4) skeins, shown in Molasses.

Gauge: 19 sts & 36 rnds = 4”/10 cm in Slip Stitch Patt in the rnd after blocking.

Needles & Supplies:
• US 8/5 mm 32”/80 cm circ needle, or size needed to obtain gauge.
• US 7/4.5 mm 32”/80 cm and 16”/40 cm circ needles, or 1 needle size smaller than that used to obtain gauge.
• For Three Needle Bind-Off: Extra US 8/5 mm circ (any length), or same size used to obtain gauge.
• Stitch marker.
• Tapestry needle.
• Scrap yarn.

Construction: This top is worked seamlessly from the bottom-up, with the body being worked in the round and then each front/back is separated at the underarms and worked back-and-forth up to the shoulders. Short rows are used to shape the shoulders and then front/back are attached using the three needle bind-off technique. Stitches are picked up around the neck and each armhole to create rib trim.
