Picking a Size: Shown in size S, being worn with approx 15”/38 cm of positive ease. To have a similar oversized fit, choose a size that is approx. 10-15”/25-38 cm larger than your actual bust measurement. For a less oversized fit, choose a size with approx 6-9”/15-23 cm of positive ease.
Gauge: 11 sts & 15 rnds = 4”/10 cm in Broken Rib (in the rnd) after blocking
Yarn: Approx 675 (750, 800, 850) (925, 975, 1050, 1100) yds of bulky-weight yarn, shown in Vintage Chunky by Berroco (50% Acrylic, 40% Wool, 10% Nylon; 100g = 130 yds), Cracked Pepper, 6 (6, 7, 7) (8, 8, 9, 9) skeins.
Note: A larger-than-usual needle size for this yarn was used to attain this pattern’s gauge and creates a looser fabric.
Needles and other supplies:
- US 13/9 mm 32”/80 cm and 16”/40 cm circ needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.
US 13/9 mm DPNs, or size used to obtain gauge (or you can use a 32”/80 cm circ if using magic loop method). - 1 stitch marker.
- Scrap yarn.
- Tapestry needle.
Construction:
- Bosco is worked seamlessly from the bottom-up in one piece.
- At underarms, front and back are divided and each worked separately up to neck, using short rows to shape shoulders.
- Shoulders are seamed together using the Three Needle Bind-Off technique.
- Sleeves are worked by picking up stitches around armholes and worked in the round to the cuff.
- Stitches are picked up around neck and work in the round to create cowl.
